Avalon Sexual Assault Centre partnered with the YWCA’s Finding Leadership in Young Women (FLY-W) program and the Girls’ Action Group at Citadel High School to create a sexual assault awareness and empowerment program for girls/young women.
Named by participants, Stop It ASAP (Awareness of Sexual Assault Project) provided girls ages 11-19 the opportunity to address the impacts of sexualized violence in their lives and to explore empowerment through creative art projects and community mobilization activities.
In keeping with the 2012 theme for International Women’s Day “Connecting Girls/Inspiring Futures,” during the week-long celebration of International Women’s Day (March 3-11, 2012) Avalon Centre will hosted an online showcase of the art projects, activities, and resources created by and for girls and young women.
