The basics
Who is the community navigation program for?
This program is for people who’ve been affected by sexualized violence and would like help accessing support in their community.
You must be aged 15+. We provide in-person support in the Halifax region, and phone or virtual support across Nova Scotia.
Our community navigator aims to help people who find it harder to access services. This includes people who identify as Indigenous, African Nova-Scotia, LGBTQ2S+, living with disabilities, and racialized groups among many others.
How can it help me?
Our community navigator can:
- Connect you to community resources.
- Offer you practical and emotional support.
- Give you useful information and referrals.
- Go with you to meetings and appointments.
- Help you fill out forms.
Where is it?
Our community navigator works with you where you feel most comfortable. You can meet with them:
- In the community.
- At Avalon’s office in Halifax.
- Online.
- On the phone.
