On Oct. 26, the Avalon Sexual Assault Centre co-hosted ‘Girls Run the World’, in celebration of International Day of the Girl.
The day of creativity and empowerment for girls aged 10 to eighteen, featured hula hooping, poetry, screen-printing, dancing and kite-making. Throughout the event, workshops discussed issues of consent, healthy body image, sexualized violence and gender equity.
Videographer Nicole Landry documented the day to create this inspiring video.
Thanks to the Nova Scotia Advisory Council on the Status of Women and the Canadian Women’s Foundation for sponsoring this project.
