In accordance with the Canadian Summer Career Placement Program, Candidates must be:

  • 16 – 30 years of age
  • Registered in an accredited education program full time for 2014/15 and must be returning to a full time program in 2015/16.
  • Canadian Citizen

Candidates must not:

  • Be employed full time else where
  • Be related to employees or Board members of the Avalon Sexual Assault Centre

 

Scope of the position:

  • Work collaboratively with and under the supervision of the Coordinator of Community/Legal Education and Training
  • Assist with the development of educational materials and curriculum modules
  • Develop targeted campaigns and resources related to sexualized violence prevention
  • Other duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Full-time student in the field of gender and women studies, social work, sociology, health promotion, education, or a related field
  • Strong organizational, written and communication skills required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and capacity to work independently
  • Graphic design experience an asset
  • Familiarity with community-based feminist pedagogy an asset
  • Knowledge and experience in working in the area of gender-based violence an asset
  • Must be non-judgmental and maintain confidentially

 

This position will be 35 hours per week for 8 weeks between July and September 2015
