In accordance with the Canadian Summer Career Placement Program, Candidates must be:
- 16 – 30 years of age
- Registered in an accredited education program full time for 2014/15 and must be returning to a full time program in 2015/16.
- Canadian Citizen
Candidates must not:
- Be employed full time else where
- Be related to employees or Board members of the Avalon Sexual Assault Centre
Scope of the position:
- Work collaboratively with and under the supervision of the Coordinator of Community/Legal Education and Training
- Assist with the development of educational materials and curriculum modules
- Develop targeted campaigns and resources related to sexualized violence prevention
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Full-time student in the field of gender and women studies, social work, sociology, health promotion, education, or a related field
- Strong organizational, written and communication skills required
- Demonstrated leadership skills and capacity to work independently
- Graphic design experience an asset
- Familiarity with community-based feminist pedagogy an asset
- Knowledge and experience in working in the area of gender-based violence an asset
- Must be non-judgmental and maintain confidentially
This position will be 35 hours per week for 8 weeks between July and September 2015
