    Avalon’s Services Are:

    • For women 16 years of age and older
    • For non-offending parents, partners and family members of women and children who have experienced sexual violence
    • Free of charge; a fee for service is charged for professional development and there is a small fee for group participation (used for refreshments)
    • Provided by professional staff and trained casual workers
    • Confidential and non-judgmental

    Avalon Centre Does Not Provide The Following:

    • Services to youth under 16 years of age (the exception being through the SANE program); we do provide information, referrals and educational materials
    • Services to survivors dealing with issues relating to psychosis or other critical mental illnesses
    • Counselling and support groups for male survivors of sexual violence; we do provide information, referrals and educational materials
    • Services for offenders
    • Services relating to other forms of violence, such as ongoing partner/intimate abuse
    • Counselling that is court ordered, mandated by the Family and Children’s Services Act, or mandated by other agencies
    • Couples/family counseling
    • Medical services beyond those provided by the SANE program
    • Referrals to doctors or lawyers
    • Legal advice
    • The release of confidential information
    • The names of survivors/victims to media or organizations looking for speakers or representation
    • Self defence programs
    • Shelter or safe house accommodations

    COURT SUPPORT:
    Court support and accompaniment is available to survivors of sexual violations aged 16 years and older, and to non-offending parents of sexually abused children who are involved in the court system.

    PARTNERSHIPS:
    We partner with community agencies and other organizations on an ongoing basis to improve and change social and health policy, and the criminal justice system.
